Alumni Reception at SASE conference in Limerick

On June 28, the MPIfG’s sixth alumni reception took place at the annual meeting of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE) in Limerick. Away from the hectic activity of the conference, the reception was an opportunity for around 60 former and current MPIfG researchers to meet in a relaxed atmosphere, network, and make new connections. more

Werner Eichhorst Steps Down from Alumni Board

In December 2023, Werner Eichhorst, senior researcher at the IZA Institute of Labor Economics in Bonn, stepped down from the executive board of the MPIfG’s alumni association, the Society of Friends and Former Associates. Eichhorst had been a member of the board and its spokesperson since 2013. more

The 2023 Journal Article Prize of the Society of Friends and Former Associates of the MPIfG has been awarded to Matías Dewey and Donato Di Carlo for “Governing through Non-Enforcement: Regulatory Forbearance as Industrial Policy in Advanced Economies” (Regulation & Governance, 2022). more

Björn Bremer Joins Central European University

In fall of this year, Björn Bremer will take up an assistant professor post in the Department of Political Science at the Central European University (CEU) in Vienna. more

New Post for Donato Di Carlo

As of June, Donato Di Carlo has joined Luiss (Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli) in Rome as founder and managing director of the LUHNIP Hub for New Industrial Policy and Economic Governance and lecturer in Political Economy. more

Birgit Apitzsch Joins Executive Board of Society of Friends and Former Associates

The Society of Friends and Former Associates of the MPIfG elected Birgit Apitzsch as a new board member at its November 2022 general meeting. Birgit Apitzsch has been Professor of Sociology/Labor, Economy and Welfare at Ruhr University Bochum since October 2021. Her connection with the MPIfG dates back to when she was studying for her doctorate between 2005 and 2009. more
