Doctoral Program

Doctoral Program

A core component of international cooperation and the MPIfG’s international reach and appeal is the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE). Founded in 2007, this unique doctoral program in economic sociology, political economy, and organization studies attracts outstanding graduate students from Germany and around the world to the MPIfG and its two IMPRS-SPCE partner universities, Cologne and Duisburg-Essen. The host institutions together offer an excellent framework and foundation for talented researchers at the earliest stages of their career. Opportunities to spend time at a partner institution in North America, France, or Italy, and to interact with visiting doctoral students from abroad who are hosted by the IMPRS-SPCE, are part of the program’s strong international orientation and its commitment to helping students gain experience, develop their research, and expand their professional networks in an international context.
