International Cooperation

The MPIfG believes that international cooperation is the most promising and rewarding form of comparative research and has close ties with several research institutions and partners abroad. The many visiting scholars spending time at the Institute contribute to and enrich its research.

The Max Planck Sciences Po Center on Coping with Instability in Market Societies (MaxPo), founded in 2012 by the MPIfG together with Sciences Po, Paris, researches the effects of increasing liberalization, technolog-ical progress, and cultural changes on Western industrial societies. more
The MPIfG and the Institute for Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences set up a joint international research group in Warsaw in 2017: the Max Planck Partner Group for the Sociology of Economic Life. Marcin Serafin leads the group. more
Since 2019, the MPIfG has been cooperating with the Max Planck Partner Group for the Study of the Economy and the Public and is a member of the Socioeconomic Transformations Observatory of the MPIfG in Chile. more
The doctoral students of the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE) have the opportunity to spend a semester at a renowned research institution abroad as part of their studies. more
The MPIfG has close collaborative ties with a range of institutes in Europe and the USA with comparable research interests. more
