Isabell Stamm Appointed Professor at TU Berlin

April 30, 2025

On April 1, Isabell Stamm took up a professorship in the sociology of organizations at the Technical University of Berlin after having headed the “Business, Ownership, and Family Wealth” research group at the MPIfG from 2021 to March 2025. Stamm researches at the intersection of organizational sociology, economics, and social inequality. In her work, she is developing a sociology of entrepreneurship that shows how entrepreneurial action is embedded in and simultaneously shapes social structures. This approach overcomes the image of the heroic sole entrepreneur and critically analyzes social inequalities in capitalist societies. During her time at the MPIfG, she researched the conditions and consequences of persisting wealth as well as the wealth biographies of entrepreneurs. After her move to TU Berlin, Stamm will retain her ties with the MPIfG as a research associate to the Wealth and Social Inequality Research Focus and a faculty member of the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE).
