Max Nagel from the University of Bremen is spending just under a year at the Institute, until March of next year, to research growth strategies at the EU periphery. Kathleen Thelen, MPIfG External Scientific Member from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), returned to the Institute in April for a one-week stay, during which time she held a workshop for her book project on American retail capitalism and the rise of the Amazon economy. Engelbert Stockhammer, Professor of International Political Economy at King’s College London, spent two weeks in Cologne at the end of the same month. Between May and the end of July, Andreas Maschke from the University of Leeds is continuing his research on the German export model with a focus on the representation of Germany’s current account in newspaper media. Patrick Sachweh from the University of Bremen has been in Cologne since the beginning of June and is working on the symbolic and normative order of fortunes and wealth. Joining the Institute from the University of Zurich for a longer stay as visiting researcher is Malte Döhne, who is working between mid-June and early 2024 on his project on digital ecology towards developing a sociology of attention markets.
