About eLibrary
eLibrary is the Library’s search portal. With just one query, you have access to the physical and electronic media in the Library’s collection as well as to a wide range of metadata and sources in external databases, including full texts (as licenses permit).
Content
The elibrary interface enables you to search all of these sources at one time, giving you access to
- Library’s collection of books, book chapters and journal articles (MPIfG Library Catalog)
- Ebook library of the Max Planck Society (MPG eBooks)
- JSTOR
- Economic papers (EconStor)
- Publications by MPIfG researchers (Institutional Repository)
- New publications from our booksellers database - ready to be purchased (Bookstore)
- Links to our databases like Web of Science, EBSCO, Statistical Data (ReNa Databases)
How it works
When you put your search into the search window, you decide whether you want to search in "all fields" or whether you just want to look at titles, authors, or call numbers. An "advanced search" enables you to filter your search if you want.
Titles will be sorted according to how closely they relate to the search term you’ve entered, with the most relevant being shown first. You can re-sort the titles according to other criteria, such as the year of publication. It is easy to use filters to pare down big search result lists.
Availibility
Printed books:
The availability of books from the library’s physical collection is indicated by green or red dots and text.
Electronic Sources:
The availability of electronic sources is shown in the title record or can be determined using links in the bibliographical details or by using our SFX link .
Interlibrary loan
If the full-text is not available online, you can request the article via SFX through our Interlibrary Loan.
Your library account
To access your library account, log in with your accustomed user ID and password. Your account lets you see what you’ve borrowed locally and via interlibrary loan, and it lets you save your searches and your results.
