Annual Meeting of MPIfG Trustees
The Board of Trustees of the MPIfG convened at the end of March for its annual meeting. Joining chairman Michael Hüther (German Economic Institute) were Barbara Albert (Rector of the University of Duisburg-Essen), Andrea Blome (City Director, City of Cologne), Martin Börschel (NRW.Bank), Carsten Fiedler (BurdaForward and Focus+), Ferdos Forudastan (CIVIS Medienstiftung), Andrea Kienle (NRW Ministry of Culture and Science), Werner Reinartz (Vice-Rector at the University of Cologne), and Witich Roßmann (Cologne City Association of the German Trade Union Confederation). Katja Ketterle, head of the Institutes department at MPG Administrative Headquarters, reported on current developments in the organization. One of the points on the day’s agenda was a talk by Erik Neimanns, a senior researcher at the MPIfG. In “An Asset or a Cost of Living? When and How Rising House Prices Translate into Demand for Higher Wages,” Neimanns presented insights from his research on the connections between house prices and wage setting. The role of the MPIfG Board of Trustees is to promote the exchange of ideas and information between the MPIfG and the general public, and to advise the directors on these and other important issues. Its members represent the scientific community, media, politics, and business.
