Matteo Marenco Joins European Commission

Matteo Marenco, a postdoctoral researcher at the MPIfG until April of this year, took up a post as a policy officer in the field of digitalization and employment policy with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) in May. Between October 2023 and April 2025, Marenco, who holds a PhD in political science and sociology, was working at the MPIfG on his research project “Digital Futures of Work in the Making: Understanding National and EU Politics of Platform Work Regulation.” In his new role, he will draw on his experience at the interface between research and policy, including from work with the European Social Observatory, Eurofound, and the Joint Research Centre.
