Political Economy of the Ordinal Society

On January 1, 1985, the MPIfG began its work. Since then, the Institute has con�cerned itself with the possibilities for steering and coordinating modern societies, always from new, contemporary perspectives. The current research focus is on the dynamics of capitalist economic systems and their anchoring in political and social processes. The symposium on the occasion of the 40th anniversary reflects on the MPIfG‘s primary fields of research from an external viewpoint. It will offer an assessment of the current research landscape in political economy and economic sociology and venture a programmatic look into the future.
