Endnote-Import-Informationen für Literatur-Datenbanken

Datenbank Anleitung
African Writers Series
  • Save title(s) in the Marked List for download.
  • In the Marked List select Download Citation to see the download options.
  • Choose Export directly to ProCite, EndNote or Reference Manager .
  • Open the file in the download window and they are imported.
Alexander Street Press Databases
  • From the short list click the blue icon for Share. From the full view individual titles or even sections can be exported via the Cite link.
  • From the list view you need to open the Export List menue.
  • Select Endnote and start the download with the SEND-button.
  • You can open the file in the download window and the title will be automatically imported in EndNote.
AMDigital ( Archives Direct; Eighteenth Cent. Journals, Empire Online)
  • Individual entries can be exported using the brown Citation/Export button in the full view.
  • A new Citation Tool window opens and clicking EndNote starts the download.
  • In the case of this database you actually need to download the file, open Endnote and import the file using the Endnote Import filter.
  • You need to manually close the download window to proceed looking into the database. And you need to correct data imported.
America's Historical Newspapers (Newsbank)
  • Import is quite long-winded and different browers show different behaviour thus: if you are interested in one title, tranfering it manually will be quicker!
  • .
  • If it is more than one title, use the Add to My Collection option and transfer data from there.
  • Click in your collection Export Citation
  • A new web window opens displaying the bibliographical data in the format suitable for Endnote. You need to copy and save this as .text-file to be able to import it in EndNote.
  • Import the downloaded file in Endnote choosing the filter RefMan Ris.
Archive for the History of the Max Planck Society
  • Via the option Save info from the full view you can export individual titles after selecting the format Literaturverwaltung (Endnote Tagged Format) and click the grey save below.
  • In case you want to export several titles collect them in My shelf which is also a grey button in the Save info menue and then export them from there.
  • You can choose open in the download window and Endnote will automatically open to import data.
Archives Unbound (Gale)
  • Collect titles in the marked list or export individual entries. Click the little CIIcon to start the export.
  • A new Citation window opens, in the export section EndNote is preselected. Click the blue Export button to start the download.
  • You can open the file in the download window and the titles is being imported.
  • Please note: Titles will be classed as Manuscript in Endnote.
Art Libraries Network - kubikat
  • Select Save/Mail from the full view (or collect titles in My e-Shelf before) to export them.
  • In the new window change the record format to Citation-Manager Export (RIS format) and click submit.
  • You can choose open in the download window and Endnote will automatically open to import data - but you can improve data quality when saving the file on your computer and import the file into Endnote with the Kubikat.enf filter - which you can download on the save/send page.
  • Please check Reference Types for correctness!
BASE
  • Individual results can be imported from the results screen.
  • Select Endnote and open the file in the download window to start Endnote and import the data directly.
  • Please note: the Reference Type will be Generic and important information is missing, but the URL to the full text is included.
BHA and RILA - 1975 - 2007
  • Export options are restricted and data quality is poor.
  • You can only export indivdual entries by clicking Actions. Select Export RIS as the choice of Endnote will lead you to Endnote online only.
  • Journal titles and issue information are missing when exporting journal artices!
Brill Online
  • From the full view or results list find the Tools menue on the right hand side. In this menue you find Export Citations and the Endnote format.
  • In the browser download window select open and the selected record(s) will then be imported. Some special characters and some fields might need correction.
  • It is not reccommeded to export from the results list, as you cannot select individual titles (so all titles on the active results page will - max. 20) be transfered) and some of them will be incomplete and need a lot of corrections.
Brill Online Reference Works
  • From the results list or full view find on the right hand side below the sign in section the option Export citation(s).
  • In the new window select Export to Endnote (RIS) and the download starts.
  • In the browser download window select open and the selected record(s) will then be imported. Some special characters and some fields might need correction.
  • It cannot be recommended to export whole results lists as you cannot choose and have some odd entries in EndNote.
BrillOnline Primary Sources
  • Data quality is not very good, so if you export you will always need to check and correct data!
  • Individual entries can be exported using the big blue button Export Citation in the full view.
  • You can open the file in the download window and the title will be imported.
  • Please note, that references need to be corrected manually!
CAIRN
  • Only individual entries can be exported without login. If you want to collect citations create a login.
  • From the full view click Citer cet article in the Raccourcis menue.
  • A new window opens and in the bottom section select Endnote as option for Exporter la citation.
  • Click open in the download window and the entries will be imported in EndNote. Data quality is very good!
Cambridge Databases
  • From the full view or short list use the Export Citation option.
  • In the new window select RIS in the Download option to start the download.
  • In the browser download window select open and the selected record(s) will then be imported.
  • Please not, that citations can only be generated from books, articles and chapters!
CitesSeer
  • Titles can only be exported using a filter from the MetaCart, so you need to Add to MetaCart individual titels from a results list or click Save to List from the full view.
  • In the MetaCart Refer/BiblX is listed as one option to save citations. A .txt-file is created that you need to download.
  • In Endnote start the import process in menu (File -> Import -> File and select the filter Endnote Import.
  • Please note that data need to be checked and corrected so it might be easier to transfer titles manually instead of using the import function

Clio-online
  • The export option is very dissatisfactory and only worth while, when exporting a large amount of titles from the basket.
  • In case you do want to export titles you need to take the following steps
    - Collect your titles from databases search in the Basket
    - Click Save in the the basket to get the download menu, in which you need ot select Endnote and save the .txt-file on your computer.
    - In order to be able to import the file, you need to find a template that can transfer the data in your file! Having tried out a lot of options it works reasonable well this way:
    - In the Endnote-Import window select as Import Option Use Connection File... and find the library catalog Cal St. U-Channel Islands, which should be installed.
  • Please note that you will need to correct Journal articles, but find the necessary information in the notes field.
COPAC Union Catalog
  • Below your result list or an individual entry you will find a green Export button. The pre-selected export format already is Endnote, Zotero.
  • In the browser download window select open and the selected record(s) will then be imported.
  • Please check for correctness!
Credo Reference
  • There used to be an open export option, but has been changed to proprietary services Refworks, Easybib and direct Import into Zotero (for which you have to open your data to Credo).
CrossAsia
  • Only individual titles can be exported from the full view. Simply click RIS below the expanded full title to start the download.
  • In the download window you can select open and the title will be imported.
  • Data are incomplete and need to be checked, but full text links are included.
De Gruyter Online
  • Please note, that the Export-Button from the results list - if in the database existent - only delivers data when selecting more than one title!
  • .
  • In case you would like to export an indivdual title change to the full view and click Zitat exportieren. Another window opens in which you need to click Export to start the download.
  • In the download window click open and the record will be imported.
DigiBib
  • Export of individual entries via Speichern or collect entries in My list.
  • In the Speichern window select as format RISand save.
  • In the download window you can choose open and the entries will automatically be imported.
  • Please note:
    as citations come from different sources the quality of imported data differs according to the source!
DOAB
  • Individual entries can be exported clicking the Export citation link below the entry.
  • Select Endnote and open the file in the download window and for automatic import in EndNote.
  • Please check data! Publisher and series information will be incomplete

Ebsco (Business Source Premier, Socindex...)
  • Collect the citations for export in a folder by pressing the folder icon next to each relevant bibliographical entry .
  • Open your selection by clicking Folder at top of the screen.
  • Select individual or all entries for the export, then click the icon for Export, i.e. a sheet of paper with a green arrow. - [It is also possible to start the export with this icon from the full view of an individual entry.]
  • Direct Export in RIS Format . is pre-selected, [Export to EndNote Web is also possible] click Save to start the export.
  • You can choose open in the download window and Endnote will automatically open to import data.
  • Please note, that reference types will not always be correct and thus information missing.
EconBiz
  • Individual entries can be exported from the full view by clicking the icon for export, i.e. Square with an arrow underneath the detailled information.
  • Select Endnote in the menue that opens when pressing the icon.
  • You can open the file in the download window and the title will be exported in EndNote.
  • In order to export several titles at a time you need to register and then are able to save entries in the "Merkliste" from where you can export them the same way as desribed above.
EconStor
  • From the full view the green button allows the download of individual data as BibTex-Export.
  • Save the file on your computer.
  • From Endnote you need to start the file import selecting the BibTex-filter as Import Option.
  • Imported data need to checked, special characters corrected. The full text link to the database is included.
eHRAF World Cultures
  • Only individual entries can be exported. In the results view there is a quote and button next to it named Cite.
  • Click this and select RefMan NOT EndNote as format (as this results in an difficult to use file.
  • The Refman (RIS) download file can be opened directly during download and is being loaded into Endnote.
  • Only book titles, not chapters/pages found will be cited!
Eighteenth Century Collections Online (Gale)
  • Only individual entries can be exported using the litte Ci button in the page view.
  • A new Citation window opens and clicking EndNote starts the download.
  • You can open the file in the download window and the necessary filter Refman.RIS should be selected automatically.
  • Pleas note: Despite having the Citation option in the Marked List, it is not possible to download entries into EndNote from there.
elibrary
  • Only logged in users can collect titles as favorites. If not logged in only indivual titles can be exported from the full view by opening the Export Record menue and selecting Export to EndNote.
  • You can choose open in the download window and Endnote will automatically open to import data.
  • Please always check correctness of data, especially when articles are being exported!
Emerald Journals Archive - 2016
  • Mark titles in the result list and expand the menu For selected items: to Download citation which opens the download window.
  • Export in the preselected format choice RIS (ProCite, Reference Manager) as data quality is better than in the EndNote format and click Download article citation data below.
  • Indivdual titles can also be exported from the full view using the link Download citation below.
  • You can choose open in the download window and Endnote will automatically open to import data.
Fachportal Pdagogik / FIS Bildung Literaturdatenbank 1980 - present
  • Select data in the results list to be exported.
  • Below the results list you find the option Exportieren.
  • As format select Endnote and click the green button labeled Exportieren.
  • In the download window select open and the entries will be imported in Endnote.
  • From the full view, the option to choose is on the right hand side Nachweis exportieren, where Direktimport: Citavi, Endnote, Zotero is the best choice. The download process starts in pressing Speichern.
Financial Times Historical Archive 1888-2010 (Gale)
  • From the full view click Citation to open the download menu.
  • Pre-selected is "Endnote" so simply click the little red Export Link and the download process starts
  • In the download window click open to prompt import into EndNote.
  • Please note, that the genre is classified as "Journal Article" not "Newspaper Article".
Gale NewsVault
  • Only individual titles can be exported. From the full view click CITE to open the download menu.

Gateway Bayern - Bayerischer Verbundkatalog
  • Use the SpeichernButton next to the icon from the full view, results list or 'Merkliste'.
  • In the menue you need to choose the format Endnote and select Ausgabe in Kurzform and click Speichern .
  • A new window opens in which you need to click Speichern again to start the actual download.
  • In the browser download window select open and the selected record(s) will then be imported.
  • The download window has to be closed manually and entries to be checked for completeness.
GBV (Online Contents, )
  • From full view or results list click "Speichern/Drucken" / "save/print info" to export titles.
  • From the results list select the numbers of titles for export and choose as format Bibligraphic management software: Endnote. Start the download with "speichern" / "save" .
  • In the download window choose open and Endnote will automatically open, prompt you to choose a library, and the data is imported.

  • Selected entries from the results list or individual entries form full view can be downloaded simply by pressing the Endnote button on the right hand side menue.

  • In the new search engine Europische Geschichte you can export entries from the results list, basket or full view.
  • Above the results list you find an icon for download.
  • A window opens in which you need to choose the number or number range of entries you would like to export. As Format you need to select Endnote and start the download in clicking Speichern.

  • In the full view of an entry, click " to open the Citation Menue.

International Encyclopedia of the Social & Behavioral Sciences IESBS
  • From the full view click Export which is next to the search box above the full text.
  • Preselected is the export format RIS and you can decide to download the citation only or the citation with abstract .
  • Click the Export-Button to start the download.
  • In the download window choose open and the data will be imported.
JSTOR
  • Find next to each entry in the results list the button Cite this item, which allows you to export the individual citation Export a RIS file.
  • Alternatively, you mark the records you would like to export and use the button Export Selected Citations above the results list. Again it is the otpion Export a RIS file.
  • In the download window choose open and the data will be imported.
  • Please note, that sometimes you have coding in the title that needs to be removed!
Karger
  • From the full view you can export individual titles by clicking Citation Download in the Article Tools section.
  • Selecting the format RIS-File starts the download..
  • You can choose open in the download window and Endnote will automatically open to import data.
KOBV
  • Only titles in the Watchlist can be exported, so you need to mark them first indivdually with the option add to mindlist .
  • Open your watchlist and select all or individual entires for export. As soon as you have made your selection the option Exportieren appears in the top menu.
  • A new window opens in which all preselections fit for the export to EndNote so you simply need to confirm with Send.
  • You can choose open in the download window and Endnote will automatically open to import data.
KrimDok - Institut fr Kriminologie, Tbingen
  • In the full view you get the option Datensatz exportieren.
  • After clicking that a menue expands in which you can seelct Exportieren nach Endnote for the desktop version or Exportieren nach EndnNoteWeb.
  • You can choose open in the download window and Endnote will automatically open to import data.
  • Please note,that articles will be transfered as book and source information missing!
Labordoc
  • You can only download titles from the eShelf, which means you need to mark them first by clicking the little star.
  • In the e-Shelf you have the option to mark indivdual or all titles and choose Push to Export RIS to save them in EndNote desktop version and Push to EndNote for EndNote Web..
  • In the import citation manager confirm the preselected format and the download begins.
  • In the download window click open to import data into Endnote.
MEDPILOT (German National Library of Medicine)
  • Collect the citations for the export in the Merkliste / Bookmarks.
  • Open your Merkliste / Bookmarks and select entries for import.
  • On the left hand side are options to download. Choose as format: Import Citavi, Endnote, (RIS).
  • Select whether you would like the full record (pre-slected) or brief record and finish with download.
  • In the download window you can choose open and Endnote will automatically open and the selected records will then be imported.
MPDI
  • Only from the full view titles can be downloaded, in clicking Endnote in the Export Article menue on the left hand side.
  • You can choose open in the download window and Endnote will automatically open to import data.
MPG eBooks Catalog
  • Individual entries or selected titles in the Cart can be exported after clicking the icon for export record. Select as format Endnote for the desktop version or EndnoteWeb as download option and start the download pressing the Export-button.
  • Please note, that in the Cart you get a new button at the top of your list you need to press to start the actual download! Whereas from an individual entry dowload automatically starts.
  • In the download window you can choose open and Endnote will automatically import the selected entries.
MPG Journal Index
  • Mark the citations you wish to export in the result list or start download from the full view.
  • Choose Save/Send - Speichern/Senden.
  • Select as format option Citation Manager / Endnote Export and click go - ok.
  • In the download window you can choose open and Endnote will automatically import the selected entries.
  • Please note: that journals will be transferred as reference type "book"!
MPG Library Catalog (Aleph)
  • Select Save/Mail from the full view (or collect titles in My e-Shelf before) to export them.

  • Only individual entries can be exported using the little CIT button in the page view.

  • Use the button Zitation Download from the results list or full view to start the data export.

  • You can download individual titles or a selection from the results list in clicking on the blue button with the three dots. In the menue choose the option Export .
  • A download window opens in which BibTex is the preselected format. Change the selection to RIS (Reference Manager, ProCite and EndNote) and start the download with the blue Export button.

  • Only individual titles can be downloaded. Click Export citation to start the download.
  • In the browser download window select open and the selected record(s) will then be imported.

  • At the full view of an entry you find a button labeled Cite this publication..
  • In a new window the citation is shown and the option to download to EndNote.
  • You can choose open in the download window and the record will then be imported.
  • Be aware that reference types will not necessary be correct and data, like the year have to be added manually!!
Ovid
  • Export individual entries or results list (partly or as a whole) by clicking Export.
  • A new window opens in which you need to select the option Export To RIS (works better than if you choose EndNote!).
    You can select which fields and URLs to export. We recommend to select Complete Reference and NOT to transfer Link to External Resolver (which is preselected and thus needs to be de-selected). Start the download with the button Export Citation(s).
  • You can choose open in the download window and Endnote will automatically open to import data.
Oxford English Dictionary
  • In the full view of an entry, click Cite.
  • Select "Endndote" as Format in the new window and start the download clicking the Export-button below.
  • In the download window choose open and Endnote will open, prompt you to select a library and import the references.
  • Be aware that reference types will be book, but the link to the web page is included!!
Oxford Reference Online
  • In the full view of an entry, click the pen-icon for "Cite".
  • Select "Endndote" as Format to Export citation which starts the download.
  • In the download window you can choose open.
  • Be aware that reference types will be generic and author names in the wrong order, but the link to the web page is included!!
Oxford Scholarship Online, OSO
  • From the abstract or full view of the entry, choose the pen icon for Citation.
  • In the following window select as format .Ris which you need to click to start the download.
  • Endnote will automatically open and prompt you to choose a library. The selected record will then be imported.
  • The download window will need to be closed manually.
Oxford Univ. Press eletronic Journals
  • In the full view of an entry, click "Cite to open the menue.
  • Select EndNote as format, which starts the download.
  • In the download window you can choose open.
Primo Central Index (PCI)
  • Individual titles can be imported from the full view or after you opened the details link. In the Actions menue select Export RIS to download for the desktop version and EndNote to import into Endnote Web.
  • A new window opens and you need to confirm the download and preselected encoding with ok.
  • Alternatively, you can save several titles first in the e-shelf (by marking the little star) and export all or some of the titles from there through the export-pulldown selecting Push to RIS for desktop or Push to EndNote for EndNote Web.
  • Quality of the data varies a lot according to source and genre!!
Project MUSE electronic Journals
  • Save titles for export first by clicking Save Citation in the menue on the right hand side (for a book it is below the cover image).
  • Open your Saved Citations and click the orange button sExport to EndNote which is labeled as Option 2:EndNote.
  • In the browser download window select open and the selected record(s) will then be imported.
ProQuest - Various Databases (e.g. Dissertations & Theses,Research Library, ERIC, )
  • From the results list select items or export them after choosing save or add titles from several results lists into your selected items list folder.
  • The Save menue allows to select RIS (works with EndNote, Citavi, etc.) and confirm the next window.
  • In the browser download window select open and the selected record(s) will then be imported.
  • A window informing you about the completed download has to be closed manually.
RePEc - EconPapers
  • From the full view if an individual title find the option Export reference and click RIS.
  • A new window opens in which you can see the selected title in the RIS format. A link Download is offered below.
  • Not with any browser this download will actually work! In case it works you can open the file during download. If not, you need to copy the data you into a text file, save it and afterwards import it into Endnote - or add data manually.
Sage Journals
  • Individual article information can be downloaded from the full view.
  • Find a red Cite button in the menu on the right hand side and click it. A new window opens in which you simply click Download Citation.
  • In the browser download window select open and the selected record will then be imported.
Science
  • From the article abstract view select Citation tools in the article tools menue on the right hand side.
  • A new window opens in which you get best results when selectin RIS as download format.
  • In the browser download window select open and your record will then be imported.
ScienceDirect (Elsevier)
  • Only individual titles of licenced content can be exported using the Export Citation link below the entry in the results list.
  • In the unfolding export menua select Export citation to RIS which will start the download
  • In the browser download window you can choose open and titles will be imported into Endnote in very good quality.
Scopus
  • Choose Export from the full view or for selected records from the results list, or "My list".
  • In next the window select RIS format and select which informatin you want to have transfered. Afterwards click Export to start the download.
  • You only need to select this format once as Scopus will remember this option during your visit!.
  • In the download window choose open and the entries will automatically be imported.
  • Be aware that first names are abbreviated and Umlaute will be incorrect!
Social Science Open Access Repository (SSOAR)
  • Only individual entries from the full view can be exported, which is quite uncomfortable.
  • Click Endnote-Export which in Firefox opens a new window, in which you find the structured data. You need to copy these information into a simple *.txt file or even better with the ending *.enw.
  • If you like to import several entries from SSOAR you can collect them in one txt-document, separated by a blank line.
  • The text file can then be imported into Endnote using the EndNote Import choosing the filter Endnote Import. The enw-file can simply be opened with double click.
Sowiport
  • Unless you register, you can only export individual entries from the full view. Click -> Export and then select to Endnote.
  • Choose open in the download window and EndNote will automatically open to import data.
Springer electronic Books and Journals
  • Only from the full view on article level export of an individual reference is possible!
  • In the menu on the right hand side select .ENW - EndNote which starts the download.
  • You can choose open in the download window and Endnote will automatically open to import data.
Stabikat und Stabikat+
  • In the stabikat+ collection you can export individual titles from the full view in using the Exportieren link in the right hand side menue. Download with Speichern in the Export Manager menue in the preseclected format. Open the file in the download window and references will be imported in Endnote.
  • In the library catalog StaBiKat individual entries or result lists can be downloades via the Speichern menue on the left hand side. In the screen seelct the number of titles and format Literaturverwaltung (Endnote Tagged Format) and start the download in pressing the button Bildschirm which opens a new window with the information you need to store in a .txt-File and import in Endnote using the Endnote Import-filter.
  • Please note, that reference types will not always be correct and thus information missing.
SWB
  • Use the option Save info in the left hand side menue to find all saving options listed.
  • In the save info window you need to select if you want one or more titles from your results list and as format Literaturverwatlung (Endnote Tagged Format) and start the export clicking the grey button labelled save.
  • You can choose open in the download window and Endnote will automatically open to import data.
Taylor & Francis
  • From the full view of an article you con export the title by clicking " Download citation below the quote.
  • A new window opens in whichthe correct format RIS is already preselected, In case you would like to export the abstract and/or references, too, you need to select the options before you click the big blue Download citations button below.
  • In the browser download window select open and the selected record will then be imported.
The Economist Historical Archive - 1843 - 2010 (Gale)
  • Only form the article view a download option is offered. Click CITE to open the download menu.
  • Pre-selected is "Endnote" so simply click the little red Export Link and the download process starts
  • In the download window click open to prompt import into EndNote.
The Gerritsen Collection
  • From the results list select items in your Marked List or go to the full view to export individual titles.
  • In the Marked List select Download to open the menue of download options. Click the first entry Export directly to ProCite, EndNote or Reference Manager and confirm the next window.
  • In the browser download window select open and the selected record(s) will then be imported.

  • Theoretically you can collect the citations you wish to export in the marked list .
  • Open the marked list and find the Ci icon to Generate a citationnext to the icon to save the list. - Wich you find in the page list as well
  • In the download window select Endnote as the option for "Export for third party software" and finish with clicking the green Export-button.
  • In the download window choose open and Endnote will open, prompt you to select a filter and import the references.

    • When looking at Chapters you can see the data in RIS structure after clicking on the CITE button. When looking at References
    • open the tab labelled RIS
    • There is no download option, so you have to copy the data in a file ending *.txt or *.ris, save it on your computer and import into EndNote.
    • The only advantage of this procedure is, that you can collect several titles in this file, entries separated with a empty line.

    • From the full view select the option QUOTE which opens a submenue offering Export to EndNote. Clicking this starts the download.

    • You need to collect titles for export in the watch list first.
    • Open your watch list and export all titles selecting in the Actions menue the output format RIS (z.B. EndNote) and start the download clicking Save below.

    • In case you do not have an online account or prefer to use the desktop version, open the pulldown and select Save to Endnote desktop instead.

    • Only article entries can be transfered into Endnote from the table of contents or results list.
    • Select the titles of interest and click Export Citation at the top of the list.
    • Anew window opens in which you need to select the export format EndNote and press the button Submit.
    • In the browser download window select open and the selected record will then be imported.

    • Unless you register free with Worldcat only export of individual entries from the full view is possible.
    • Select cite/ export i.e. zitieren / exportieren to open the download menu.
    • Select the link Export to Endnote / Reference Manager i.e. nach Endnote exportieren in the lower part of the menue.
    • In the download window choose open to start Endnote and the data import.
    • Always check - and correct - data! Genres are mixed up and information missing.
