Habilitation Positions

You may apply for a six-year position as Senior Researcher (with a mid-term evaluation after three years) in order to work on your Habilitation. Open positions are announced here. You may apply once you have gained some postdoctoral experience after successfully completing your PhD in an area that fits within the Institute’s research program.
Senior Researchers are members of a research group headed by one of the Institute's directors. Depending on your research project, you may have the opportunity to do field work, attend internal or external trainings and national and international conferences, and organize your own workshops. We will support you in your career development with an eye to your individual needs and project requirements. The Max Planck Society is committed to supporting women in their scientific careers and to significantly increasing the proportion of female researchers. The MPIfG particularly encourages applications from female candidates.
