Workshop on the political economy of corporate governance

Research on corporate governance has a long tradition at the MPIfG. Located at the intersection between political science, sociology, and economics, this key institution of political and economic life is subject to processes of continual change. An interdisciplinary workshop in July 2019 considered the most recent developments within the investment chain that connects investors with companies. Under the title “Investment Chain Developments and the Political Economy of Corporate Governance,” the topics discussed included the development of pension funds, the effects of the growth of asset management firms and index funds, and the possibilities and limitations of civil society initiatives. The workshop was organized by Benjamin Braun.
