New staff and guests in spring 2019

In spring 2019, two new researchers begin their work at the MPIfG: Manolis Kalaitzake, formerly of University College Dublin and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute since March, is investigating the role of finance in liberal capitalism in Great Britain and Ireland; Björn Bremer, a Senior Researcher at the Institute, came to us from the European University Institute in Florence in April and will be researching the political aspects of growth models. In April, we also welcome five new visiting researchers to the Institute: Esra Erdem, Professor of Social Economy and Social Management at the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences in Berlin will be exploring “imaginaries of the social” during her six-month stay; Davide Carpano, University of California, San Diego, is interested in the use of free and open-source software by major technology firms; Daniel Driscoll, also of the University of California, San Diego, works on the politics of climate change and comparative carbon tax policy; Sebastian Diessner, London School of Economics and Political Science, is concerned with the political economy of central bank independence and macroeconomic policy coordination; Gemma Scalise from the European University Institute in Florence, is researching EU measures on "Active Inclusion" designed to combat social and labor market exclusion in comparative local contexts.
