MPIfG Public Lectures in the summer semester 2019

During the summer semester 2019, the MPIfG will be offering public lectures by internationally renowned scholars: On April 30, Brian Burgoon, Professor for International and Comparative Political Economy at the University of Amsterdam, will present his thoughts on a fuller political economy of populism. On May 8, Bruce Carruthers, Professor of Sociology at Northwestern University, discusses the relationship between corporate social responsibility and the tax paid by businesses. On June 5, Fabien Accominotti, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the London School of Economics and Political Science, will show how the reification of merit contributes to inequalities in employee compensation. On June 19, Linsey McGoey, Reader (Associate Professor) in social theory and economic sociology at the University of Essex, will talk about philanthrocapitalism and economic inequality, explaining why philanthropy was long a topic not addressed by sociological research.
