Network meeting “Is the Engine of Liberalization Stalling?”

In January 2018, the project network on European economic and social integration (Projektverbund Europäische Wirtschafts- und Sozialintegration) met at the MPIfG. Under the key question of “Is the Engine of Liberalization Stalling?” researchers from various institutions examined the state of the art of the reforms to the Economic and Monetary Union, for example with regard to the emerging Capital Markets Union. Several contributions also addressed the European free movement of persons and its impacts on the the social systems of member states. Initiated in 2014, the network aims to enable cooperation between research projects that examine European integration from a political economy perspective. Members include the MPIfG research group "The Political Economy of European Integration," headed by Martin Höpner, as well as research groups from the University of Bremen, the University of Tübingen, and the European Policies Research Unit at the Institute of Economic and Social Research (WSI).
