Macht en Hierarchie (Power and Hierarchy)
This course gives an overview of current developments in the theory of institutionalism, the predominant theoretical paradigm in many areas of political science and in comparative politics in particular. The relationship between power and hierarchy, i.e. between power and institutions, is of special interest here. To what extent do institutions buttress power relations? What is the role of power in sustaining institutional arrangements? How does power contribute to understanding the origins of institutions?
