About NET...
In March 2008, the Network on Education and Training (NET) held its Kick-Off Meeting at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne.
The idea behind NET is to bring together young as well as more experienced scholars with a background in political and/or social science,
who are interested in studying the institutions, politics and dynamics of education and training systems from an international comparative perspective.
The network brings together scholars from a number of countries (Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Israel, the USA,...).
Specific topics discussed at the initial meeting were the comparative political economy of skill formation, processes of institutional
change and adaptation in skill systems and the impact of internationalization and Europeanization on education and training policies.
NET aims at strengthening the network of scholars by organizing workshops on common research interests and by coordinating
activities of members at conventional academic conferences.
