Local catalogues

  • [info] Online catalogue of the MPIfG

    The catalogue of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies with the option to search MPG licenced e-books and link to the Max Planck Virtual Library.

  • [info] Catalogue of the University Library, Cologne

    catalogue of the university library of Cologne. Included in the online catalogue are books and media published after 1989 and all journals, older literature is gradually being included and can fully be researched in the printed catalogue in the library. Institute members find here information on using the University library and interlibrary loan through the MPIFG library service.

  • [info] Union catalogue of Cologne University Libraries (KUG)

    Presently the online catalogues from 102 institute and seminar libraries of the University of Cologne (from 150) are being search, including the University Library and other special collections. The institutes libraries not yet part of the KUG can be searched via KVIK.


Supra-regional catalogues

  • [info] German National Library

    The catalogue of the German National Library comprises the German literature collected since 1913. Media from German Musical Archive are not included, but the research option for dissertations and older literature are very good.

  • [info] Karlsruher Virtual catalogue (KVK)

    The Karlsruhe Virtual catalogue is a meta search interface which allows you to access library catalogues via WWW. It starts a simultaneous search in the German union catalogues, national libraries across the world, databases of books in print, etc according to your own choice and gives you a standardized hit list.

  • [info] Worldcat

    WorldCat connects you to the collections and services of more than 10,000 libraries worldwide. Use our SFX-Service in Worldcat! If you don´t see the icon, you probally use the Internet Explorer, then: Right mouseclick, choose "Insert open Url".   • [info] Journals Database (ZDB)

    The database compiles all journals held at German libraries, listing the respective libraries. You can limit your search to a certain region, e.g. NRW, or library (for Cologne Sigel 38).

  • [info] Electronic Journals Library(EZB)

    List of the electronic journals of the Max-Planck-Institute for the Study of Societies and the Max-Planck-Society. With online access to all subscribed journals.

  • [info] Catalogue of the British Library

    The catalogue of the British Library offers access to research in most of the libraries stock as well as various special catalogues.

  • [info] Catalogue of the French National Library

    BN OPALE-PLUS allows you to research most of the stock of the French National Library.

    The working Library of the London School of Economics and Political Science and one of the largest libraries in the world devoted to the economic and social sciences..

  • [info] European University Institute Library

    The European University Institute Library intends to develop research collections that document modern European history and politics. Emphasis lies on European, international, and comparative law as well as macroeconomics and international trade.

  • [info] Library of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung

    The library of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung collects the printed publications in the field of past and present day German and international labour movement.

  • [info] The German Central Library for Economics (ZBW)

    The German Central Library for Economics includes materials from the HWWA, offers access to ECONIS, ECONBIZ and other internet resources.

  • [info] Library of the German Parliament

    Apart from literature relevant for the German Parliament, the library also offers research in parliament protokolls and other relevant information.

  • [info] European Commission Libraries Catalogue (ECLAS)

    ECLAS is a bibliographic data base in the domain of European affairs. With the increasing availability of online electronic resources internet resources in the broad area of European integration are also included.

Meta search options

  • [info] Max-Planck Virtual Library (vlib)

    The Max Planck Virtual Library (vLib) is a portal to scientific information resources available to staff and guests of the Max Planck Society. It presently includes nearly all Max Planck library catalogues and licensed reference databases as well as numerous external catalogues, databases, reference works, e-print servers, etc. Further resources are being added continuously.

  • [info] Digital Library of the University Library Cologne

    The digital library of the USB searches through library catalogues, databases, electronic full texts etc. which are partially accessible for users of the UB Cologne or guests.

  • [info] The European Library

    The European Library's webservice is a portal offering access to the combined resources (books, magazines, journals.... - both digital and non-digital) of the 43 national libraries of Europe..

  • [info] Gateway to Library Catalogues

    This gateway offered by the Library of Congress, Washington searches the Library of Congress and various American Libraries.
