On August 31, 2012, the University of Cologne appointed Martin Höpner to be an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences. Martin Höpner heads the Research Group on the Political Economy of European Integration at the MPIfG and is a member of the IMPRS-SPCE faculty.
