On July 6, 2012, Irene Troy was awarded her doctorate from Utrecht University. In her dissertation entitled "Patent Transactions and Markets for Patents: Dealing with Uncertainty" she examines intellectual property transactions. From September 2007 to August 2010 Irene Troy was a doctoral student at the IMPRS-SPCE and is now Junior Lecturer in the Faculty of Geosciences in the Department of Innovation and Environmental Studies at Utrecht University.
