Susanne Wankell, an author and freelance journalist working in print and radio, and Gerhard Klas, a freelance journalist working in radio, will be Journalists in Residence at the MPIfG during the coming months. Susanne Wankell is particularly interested in how the internet is changing communication in society. Gerhard Klas focuses on the transformation of societies of developing countries. Up to 2010, four sociological research institutes participated in the Journalist in Residence Fellowship, which was sponsored by the Volkswagen Foundation. Since 2011, the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB) and the MPIfG have been conducting and funding the program on their own.
