Daniel Seikel Awarded Doctorate

Daniel Seikel was awarded his doctorate from the University of Cologne on June 14, 2012. In his dissertation on the liberalization of public banking in Europe he examines how the European Commission, despite unfavorable circumstances, was able to implement European competitive law to liberalize the political economies of member states ("Der Kampf um öffentlich-rechtliche Banken: Wie die Europäische Kommission Liberalisierung durchsetzt"). Seikel was a doctoral student at the MPIfG's IMPRS-SPCE from October 2008 to March 2012. He is currently a researcher in the Collaborative Research Center 597 "Transformations of the State" at the University of Bremen.
