From February 24-25, 2011, political scientists from Germany met at a workshop entitled "Wer regiert Europa? Governance und Politische Ökonomie in der Europäischen Union" (Who’s Governing Europe? Governance and Political Economy in the European Union). Organized by the Research Group on European Liberalization, the workshop focused on the phenomenon of "integration through law" and its resulting democratic deficit as well as its effects on politico-economic structures in member states.
