On February 8-9, 2011, MPIfG researchers joined scholars from Brazil, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the United States for a workshop on "Pragmatism and Economic Sociology" to discuss the theoretical basis of pragmatic sociology and its relation to the French school of Économie des Conventions. The workshop aimed to explore the explanatory potential of the pragmatist approach for analyzing key problems of economic sociology such as market coordination, value formation, and institutional change.
