Nicholas Ziegler Is Scholar in Residence 2010/2011 at the MPIfG
Nicholas Ziegler, Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley, and Faculty Research Associate at the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment, is the MPIfG Scholar in Residence for the 2010/2011 Winter Term. His current research is into policy change in realms that demand collective investment over multiple generations, which typically hinges on the collision of interest politics with changing generational norms. Empirical cases he is examining include pension reform in Germany and the creation of market rules for new financial instruments in the United States. Each year the MPIfG invites a distinguished scholar in the field of political science, economics or sociology to spend six months at the institute. A Scholar in Residence pursues a specific project that relates to the research being conducted at the MPIfG.
