The MPIfG was well represented at the 35th Conference of the German Sociological Association (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Soziologie, DGS) in Frankfurt/Main by contributions from its scholars as well as via its book and information booth. The centennial jubilee congress, with the core theme "Transnationalism and Society," was attended by about 2,500 people. The Economic Sociology Section of the DGS, whose speaker is Jens Beckert, held a plenary discussion on the topic of "Transnational organization of economic behavior." The Section awarded the Karl Polanyi Prize to Andreas Langenohl, Gießen University, in recognition of his monograph titled "Financial Markets and Temporality" (Lucius & Lucius 2007).
