Fritz W. Scharpf Receives First Prize from Fritz Thyssen Foundation
In July 2010, Fritz W. Scharpf was awarded the first prize of the Fritz Thyssen Foundation for social science articles published in 2009 for his article entitled "Legitimacy in the European System of Multilevel Governance" published in Leviathan, Vol. 37, in 2009. The Fritz Thyssen award is the most prestigious prize for social science journal articles published in German. The best three articles of the year are selected by a jury at the suggestion of the publishers of all German-language social science journals. Fritz W. Scharpf was director of the MPIfG from 1986-2003 and is currently working on a research project on the normative foundations and limits of political legitimacy.
