Juan Fernandez will receive a fellowship for 2011 from the A.SK Academic Prize Foundation for his dissertation, "Labor and the Elderly in the Welfare Retrenchment Era: Institutions and Collective Action in the Public Pension Reforms of Affluent Democracies." The Social Science Research Center Berlin devotes 50,000 euros from the foundation’s budget each year to supporting postdoctoral researchers who make an important contribution to political and social reform issues. Fernandez has been a postdoctoral fellow at the MPIfG since September 2009 and is working on his research project on pension reforms. Another of the three prize winners for 2011 is Alexander Petring, who was a postdoctoral fellow at the MPIfG from 2008 to 2009 and is currently a research fellow at the Social Science Research Center Berlin.
