Fritz Thyssen Stiftung Prize Goes to Christoph Deutschmann
Christoph Deutschmann has received third prize for the best social science article published in 2008 from the Fritz Thyssen Stiftung for his article "Die Finanzmärkte und die Mittelschichten: Der kollektive Buddenbrooks-Effekt" on financial markets, the middle class, and the collective Buddenbrooks Effect. The Fritz Thyssen Prize is the only prize for social science articles published in German-language periodicals. A jury recognizes the three best articles from the subscription year based on suggestions by the publishers of all the German-language social science periodicals. MPIfG Working Paper 08/5 was a precursor of the article and originated from Christoph Deutschmann's research at the MPIfG as a Scholar in Residence in spring 2008.
