Journalist in Residence Fellowships for 2009 Awarded
The Journalist in Residence Fellowships for 2009 have been awarded to four journalists who will spend two weeks to three months at the MPIfG: Stefan von Borstel (Die Welt), Roman Pletter (freelance journalist), Cornelia Schmergal (WirtschaftsWoche) and Klaus Max Smolka (Financial Times Deutschland). During their stay, the journalists will be able to sit in on a research project or pursue their own investigations. They will also offer seminars on communication with the media to researchers at the institute.
Established in 2005 and sponsored by the Volkswagen Foundation, the Journalist in Residence Program is organized by the MPIfG, the Centre for Social Policy Research of the University of Bremen, the Social Science Research Center Berlin and the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Labour Studies. One of the program goals is to promote the qualified reporting of social science issues by offering journalists close contact with researchers, the opportunity to sit in on research projects and the use of institutional resources.
